The Silk Road Ensemble - The Silk Road Ensemble is the musical section of a broader Silk Road Project, an organization that had its origins in 1998 largely through the impetus of cellist Yo-Yo Ma. The stated aim of the organization is to promote intercultural artistic exchange in many fields, music being but one of them.

Silk Road transmission of art - Many artistic influences transited along the Silk Road, especially through the Central Asia, where Hellenistic, Iranian, Indian and Chinese influence were able to intermix.
